Pilot Press is Richard Porter’s imprint. Started in 2017 as a gesture of solidarity against the darkness, the press is inspired by the collaborative spirit of the gay liberation movement and the radical, subversive history of artists' DIY publishing.

Since its first publication, Not here: a queer anthology of loneliness, the press has championed queer and outsider lives in addition to highlighting key writers and artists from history. The AIDS Crisis and a sensibility that was lost informs a major part of the press's philosophy.

The press remains solo-run and receives no external funding or institutional support. It works with a distributor, Public Knowledge Books, who are able to supply independent bookshops in the U.K. and around the world.
